On 23 April around 2.30 pm, during a road surveillance service along the A14 motorway, a patrol of the Porto San Giorgio Traffic Police Subsection, at the Porto Sant’ Elpidio toll booth, ordered a lorry with “Bulgarian” registration plate for a normal police check.
The operators of the Specialty, during the documentary check, ascertained that the driver was carrying out a transport of cylinders containing a total of approximately 1,500 kg of refrigerant gas, classified as dangerous goods because in the event of a leak it is considered “asphyxiating gas”, and that the driver of the vehicle had never obtained the ADR professional training certificate, necessary to acquire the necessary skills for the safe transport of dangerous goods. Furthermore, the vehicle with which he was carrying out transport on behalf of third parties from Bulgaria to Italy was not authorized to carry out international transport because it did not have the required community licence. The truck was then subjected to administrative detention and the driver was administratively fined approximately €5000.00.
