“I still carry the signs today” – DiLei

Edelfa Chiara Masciotta she was the victim of a violent accident of which it still bears the signs today. It was 2019 when the former Miss Italy was hit head-on while she was crossing the pedestrian crossing. In Turin, her city from which she has never separated and where she lives together with her family. The same one in which she was able to rebuild her life when, forced by her son’s illness, she decided to abandon her career as an actress to start again from herself, realizing one of her secret dreams.

Edelfa Chiara Masciotta, how she is doing years after the accident

She herself had told what happened on her Instagram profile. In 2019 Edelfa Chiara Masciotta, who we met with the crown and scepter of Miss Italy in 2005, he experienced a very difficult and painful moment in his life. A moment in which that life was greatly put at risk.

“It was November, a rainy evening – he told al Courier, remembering the accident -. I had recently left the IED [Istituto Europeo di Design a Torino, ndr] And I was crossing on the pedestrian crossing in Corso Matteotti. A car hit me head on. It was very traumatic and I still carry the signs of it today.”

The violent impact left marks which are also the result of the many operations that the former Miss Italy had to undergo: “I had to undergo five operations, I found myself without a nose. Full of scars on my face that kept producing cysts. But I don’t want to complain, I’m here and I’m talking about it. I’m also going deaf in one ear, always as a consequence of the impact. But I don’t feel like having another operation right now.”

Marks on the face and body that are a reminder of pain and fear, but also something that has influenced in some way the relationship with his physical appearance: “Beauty cannot only be the body (…) obviously aesthetic beauty has the its value and I cannot deny that I have had gods moments of failure. I wasn’t ready to have to live with those marks on my face all my life. The doctors were good. Even though many are still there. Then we resort to some tricks, a longer fringe, a tuft…”.

The new life of Edelfa Chiara Masciotta after her son’s illness

Edelfa Chiara Masciotta abandoned the world of entertainment for some time and that acting career which he had undertaken with great commitment. It was one of her secret dreams and the experience at Miss Italia had been an excellent springboard that she tried to “exploit” in the best way to achieve her goal. In the end, however, Masciotta left all this behind and it has nothing to do with the accident, but rather with something that happened years earlier.

“At three years old, my first child [Andrea, avuto dal regista televisivo Roberto Cenci, ndr] he fell ill with type 1 diabetes. Today, thanks to research, technology provides great help in the management of the pathology. So, the right thing for me to do was to leave everything and stay behind him 100%. I’ve never had a second thought and I’m happy about it – he explained to Courier -. (…) I found myself choosing and I chose. I turned my life around and also my artistic side. And I signed up for the IED.”

Today Edelfa Chiara Masciotta deals with Ivy, a design studio founded together with the architect and photographer Daniele Ratti. A creative profession that stimulates her greatly and thanks to which she has managed to express herself, albeit in other forms.
