The elderly women trusted her, a 47-year-old carer originally from Eastern Europe: she had the task of assisting and looking after them. But when she remained at home alone with them, she began to rummage in the drawers in search of precious objects, which she then stole and resold to the gold buyers: a now well-oiled mechanism, which had allowed the woman to pocket several thousand euros in a short time. . The events occurred in the Lodi area, and the victims are almost all over eighty with serious difficulties who had not noticed anything. The administrative team of the Lodi Police Headquarters, writes the Corriere della Serahad to undertake a long and complicated investigative activity before managing to stop the woman, who is now under house arrest.

The investigations

The cross-checks were triggered after some checks carried out by agents in various “Gold Buyers” in the Lodi area, in which suspicious transactions had emerged. What intrigued the investigators, while analyzing the registers, were above all some operations carried out in a short period of time and always by the same person. They concerned the sale of gold jewelery characterized by engraved names, attributable to some elderly people. Further investigations led to the discovery that all the owners of the objects had something in common: they were assisted by the woman in question. She, on several occasions, even went so far as to take over the ATM of one of the elderly people she assisted to make cash withdrawals from the current account for several thousand euros.
