PALERMO, 27 April – Whoever begins well is halfway there, says an ancient proverb. A saying that seems to fit Villaurea Monreale perfectly, who won with authority against Futsal Noci (7-1) in the first leg match of the salvation playout.
The first play-off match therefore ends in the best possible way, from which the outcome of the season depends on the Salesians, who had won the right to play in the play-outs in the last match of the regular season, going on to win in Carini’s match.
It was a match that started with a diesel engine and ended with 16 valves, because Antonio Gallo’s boys, aware of the importance of what was at stake and also with few points of reference from the Apulian team, started a little tense, perhaps fearing the guest departures. So much so that the first half ended “only” at 2-1 with all the final solutions still in play.
Then, however, in the second half, Abisso and his teammates threw away all hesitations and pushed as hard as they could on the accelerator, extending the score, up to 7-1 with which the siren sounded. Great performance from everyone (after all, with a result like this it would be difficult to find anything wrong), but it is right to make a special mention for Nico Giannola, who with his four goals and his overall performance won hands down the title of “party man”.
Completing the scoreboard were Paolo Scalavino, who scored from close range, Thomas La Barbera, who disguised himself as Alberto Tomba and with a “coast to coast” scored an applause goal and Samuele Musso, who with his poisonous left foot on free kick pierced the Apulian goal a few seconds from the end.
Now, however, we will have to go to Noci, quickly dismiss this resounding victory and start again from the 0-0 with the concentration and attention shown today. Only in this way will this blessed salvation that the team so deserves and which now finally seems within reach will arrive.
