The meeting with the representatives of the associations operating in the city, brought together by the municipal administration of Chieti to relaunch the body of the city association council, was held today, April 27, at the Barbella museum.
The initiative was launched by councilor Barbara Di Roberto with responsibility for relations with associations, in which the mayor Diego Ferrara, the councilors Alberta Giannini and Fabio Stella and the president of the Social and Health Commission Gabriella Ianiro took part.
“Associative councils can be an important and innovative planning body for the Municipality – said councilor Barbara Di Roberto – because they can each act within their own scope, sharing specific objectives, goals and projects with the Municipality, or act in a network with other areas, carrying out a plural, concrete action for the benefit of the city. The objective is not only to include acronyms within the municipal council, we want to structure them, that is, to create an organism capable of acting in co-planning with the Authority.
This will give more strength to the associations which will be guaranteed and supported by the institutional presence, but will also strengthen the action of the Municipality, especially in a complex moment like the one we are experiencing, because it will be able to have operational arms to carry out cultural, social, tourism and civil protection. These are spheres of action that belong to the city, but which must be activated even more so as to be able to draw on funding and resources that cannot be reached by each remaining in their own sphere, to create events, initiatives and also services that the city needs. and that the Municipality alone is not always able to ensure.
The intent is to arrive at an effective collaboration, in which the associations are not instruments for doing, but interlocutors to plan together as much as possible. This first meeting can certainly be considered an excellent start because both for the participation we had and for the quality of the proposal and the desire to participate that we found in all the participants. Thanks go to them for having dedicated attention and time to this first step, which will now be followed by other more operational steps so that the association consultation becomes operational and profitable for the life of the city and for the administrative action undertaken by the Authority”.

The potential for action that we have in front of us is beautiful, which allows us to work in different areas, uniting them in a single goal, project, activity.
All of this is to the advantage of the city, at a time when the Authority’s capacity for action is reduced and conditioned by the situation generated by the instability. But ours is not a condition of complete immobility, which is why we will be happy to take the right steps together with this dimension.”
