This Sunday 28 April, at 10.00, at Villa Eleonora in Scauri, there will be “The first step towards Europe” by Gerardo Stefanelli, on the way to the European elections on 8 and 9 June. The official announcement took place last Friday 19 April in Civitavecchia with Marietta Tidei, when the leader of Italia Viva Matteo Renzi had presented them as candidates from Lazio in the Central Italian College, illustrating the political project of the United States of Europe.
“After the presentation in Civitavecchia, I could only start from Scauri for my “first step towards Europe”, the symbolic beginning of a challenging and compelling journey – declares Gerardo Stefanelli – At a time when trust is increasingly weak towards the European Community, I have decided to stand as a candidate in the next elections on 8 and 9 June. I believe that Europe is our democratic home and the place where we can build our future under one great flag.
For this reason – he continues – I enthusiastically accepted the challenge posed to me by Matteo Renzi, because doing politics is what I love most and I am convinced that the radical change that Europe needs must start precisely from politics. United States of Europe is the goal we have set ourselves and towards which we are moving. We want to look at Europe as a horizon that projects us towards vital challenges for Italy, the European community and all of humanity. It is not the time to close ourselves in, but to embark on a path that unites us and strengthens us.
This is why I thought of this electoral campaign as a path along which we can meet people with the same desire, with which we can aspire to grow our political project. We need to rediscover the authenticity of a politics that wants to return to being central and concrete.”
Tomorrow, alongside Gerardo Stefanelli, the parent company of Italia Viva in the Lazio Region will be present Marietta Tidei, candidate in the same constituency.
