Between Friday 26th and the night of Saturday 27th April 2024 the firefighters intervened to put out two fires involving two vehicles: first a car in Bassano del Grappa, then during the night a truck devoured by flames on the motorway.
Truck engulfed in flames on the highway
On the night between Friday 26 and Saturday 27 April 2024, just before 1.30 am, the firefighters intervened between the Vicenza Est and Ovest motorway junctions towards Milan to put out the flames of a heavy truck.
The driver of the three-axle truck heard a bang coming from the engine and immediately parked, fortunately he managed to get out of the vehicle shortly before the vehicle was devoured by flames.
The firefighters, who intervened with a fire engine, two tankers and nine operators from the power station, managed to put out the fire. The flames, however, in the meantime had already involved the entire truck and its load. The vehicle, which left Bari with a load of various material, was heading towards Montecchio Maggiore.
The traffic police and auxiliary motorway staff were also on site to coordinate the situation. Firefighters are carrying out operations to completely extinguish the fire and clear the area finishing shortly after 4am.
Car on fire in Bassano del Grappa
On the afternoon of Friday 26 April 2024, however, a car caught fire in via Portile in Bassano del Grappa around 7.30 pm.
The driver of the car noticed abnormal signals while driving down the road and saw smoke coming out of the bonnet. He immediately stopped and has abandoned the vehicle before the flames took over.
The firefighters, who arrived on site with two vehicles from the local detachment, they put out the fire which caused irreparable damage to the car. The possible causes, probably of an electromechanical nature, are currently being investigated by the intervention team.
The operations to completely extinguish the fire, cool the area and clear the area were completed in about an hour.
