CAMPODARSEGO – Drunk driver causes a road accident, near tragedy on St. Mark’s Day. Serious accident on Thursday night in Campodarsego, along the road regional 307 at the intersection with via Cinganame. It happened on April 25th after 10pm. A Lancia Y driven by a young man from Vigonza violently hit a Toyota carrying a family from the Venetian province stopped at the intersection. A third car coming in the opposite direction was also involved. The latter, a company car from a company in Camposampiero, was hit after the rear-end collision by the Lancia Y and ended up in the side ditch. The firefighters of the Borgoricco detachment intervened on site and made the area and the vehicles safe. Luckily all those involved remained unharmed.
The local Federation Police officers arrived to investigate the road accident and were on duty at the nearby Aperyshow event in Arsego. The vehicles coming from Campodarsego were diverted towards Fiumicello and a one-way stretch was thus created along the regional road to allow survey and rescue operations in complete safety. The road was cleared and reopened to traffic shortly after midnight. All three drivers of the vehicles involved were subjected to alcohol tests. The young man driving the Lancia Y, the car that caused the accident, tested positive and was found with a blood alcohol level more than double the maximum allowed for driving. The young man was thus reported for driving while intoxicated and his license was withdrawn by the Local Police of the Federation.
