April 29: on International Book Day, meeting with Totò Cascio

On Monday 29 April, on the occasion of the International Book and Copyright Day, at the IC Guarino – directed by Gabriella Bruccoleri – Salvatore Cascio will present his book “THE GLORY AND THE PROOF – My new cinema Paradiso 2.0”. Dr. Carmela Tata, Regional Guarantor Authority for people with disabilities in Sicily, will be present.

Monday 29 April at 10.30 am during the “Meeting with the author” event, which will be held in the multipurpose hall of the “G. Guarino ”of Favara on the occasion of the celebration of the International Book and Copyright Day, Totò Cascio will present his book: “THE GLORY AND THE PROOF – My new Cinema Paradiso 2.0; and the text it will be delivered to all School Directors or their representatives.

The author, who was the child protagonist of the film “Nuovo Cinema Paradiso”, was affected by retinitis pigmentosa with macular edema from a very young age, a serious disease which caused him a progressive, irreversible and almost total loss of sight, until make him give up what was a promising and radiant career.

At the age of 42 Totò Cascio found the strength and desire to tell his experience in a book that is, at the same time, a cinematic memory and a story of training and rebirth. Thanks to his faith, his courage and the awareness acquired, the author returns to live a life worth living and this is his “Nuovo Cinema Paradiso 2.0”.

On April 29th the IC “G. Guarino” will have Totò as guests of the day Cascio who will present his book and Dr Carmela Tata, committed every day to guaranteeing the affirmation of the rights of people with disabilities in all social and cultural contexts, offline and online.

“The event – ​​explains the school director Gabriella Bruccoleri – is part of a broad and complex project aimed at developing in young people a love for reading and sensitivity towards diversity, making reference to authentic and concrete life testimonies , to better educate young people about mutual respect and self-affirmation, from an individual and community perspective. “A manifesto book, an autobiographical book, which on the one hand promotes a passion for the written text and on the other helps children to develop a sense of responsibility, courage and getting up after a fall”.

Thanks to the commitment of Dr. Tata, Guarantor for people with disabilities, – highlights Bruccoleri – the book will be donated to all schools in the Province, to develop widespread and repeatable projects linked to cinema and inclusion in individual school institutions.”

The guests were also invited by students of the “G. Hotel Institute”. Ambrosini” who have read the book and who, together with the Guarino students, will solicit Totò Cascio with questions, reflections, artistic performances and curiosities.
