URBINO The ducal city received three stars on the new edition of Michelin Green Guide dedicated to travel and culture; therefore a place that deserves to be visited and also known for one of the most followed guides at an international level.

The other titles

«The National Gallery of the Marche, Palazzo Ducale, already had three stars as a highly attractive destination – comments the tourism councilor Roberto Cioppi -. Now the stars are coming for the city, a distinct recognition compared to the monuments. A great happiness and satisfaction, because the Michelin recognition is highly coveted, it must be deserved, it is not easy to achieve and it is of great prestige for the city and with positive effects on commercial activities and the entire territory”.

The strong call

Being in the guide is therefore a strong tourist attraction, with positive effects on the local economy and beyond. It is a recognition «the fruit of the activity of these years – continues councilor Cioppi –. It shows that beyond the inherited assets, we have communicated well about the community and the heritage we have received from the past, from the Renaissance. Certainly important for this result are the different activities that we propose in different declinations: from the outdoors, to food and wine, accompanied by culture and events. The diversification of the possibilities for visits and experiences in Urbino has helped. To enhance the city and be recognized as a place that deserves to be seen and known. A wealth of proposals that is not just culture, but is being able to experience an uncontaminated territory, the cradle of organic food for an experiential tourist proposal.”

The director’s letter

«The fact that the director of the ‘Travel & Culture’ guide Philippe Orain himself wrote to the administration was a great satisfaction – underlines councilor Cioppi -. The Michelin guides are followed by international tourism, a strong attraction also in that field, on which we have been aiming for years and on which we are growing more and more”.

Thanks to these three stars Urbino is associated with places such as San Gimignano, Assisi, Ravello, Erice and Taormina as a city centre. In fact, in Urbino the National Gallery of the Marche and the Palazzo Ducale already had three stars. The Courtyard of the Palace and the Oratory of San Giovanni Battista get another one (therefore two stars). The Duomo and Piazza Rinascimento get one each.
