D’Amico, two more orders of LR1 ships in China for 112.4 million dollars

A few days after the announcement of the first order,Friend Tankers communicated a further investment in new ships. The parent company, d’Amico International Shipping, has confirmed the signing of a contract with the Chinese Jiangsu New Yangzi Shipbuilding shipyards for the acquisition of two new “Long Range” (LR1) tankers of 75 thousand deadweight tons each. The agreed price for each vessel is of 56.2 million dollars(therefore for 112.4 million dollars in total) and are expected to be delivered in July and December 2027.

“Following our announcement on 17 April last regarding the order of two new LR1s, I am pleased to announce today that we have reached an agreement with the same shipyard for the construction of two further LR1 ‘Eco’ tankers of the same type – he has declared Carlos Balestra from Mottola, CEO of d’Amico International Shipping -. As already stated, these vessels are highly efficient and environmentally friendly, in line with our long-term goal of operating a modern and ‘Eco’ fleet. Furthermore, from a commercial point of view, I see significant potential in this market sector. I am therefore happy to be able to strengthen DIS’ presence in the LR1 segment, bringing our fleet to a total of 10 modern ships. I would also like to underline that the LR1 sector will benefit from a contained orderbook, and from the structural process of relocating global refining capacity away from some of the main consumption areas. This trend will further help support demand measured in ton-miles.”
