Among the most popular centaurs in the history of Italian motorcycling is Andrea Dovizioso from Romagna. The latter, in eight seasons astride the Ducati, has become a symbol of the Borgo Panigale company. On three occasions he finished behind Marc Marquez in the standings. At the time the native of Cervera was at the top, while the Desmosedici was not the unbeatable chip of recent years. Andrea Dovizioso concluded his ride on the Red in 2020 by winning the constructors’ title alongside Danilo Petrucci.

The Forlivese has always stood out for his natural propensity to adapt to the characteristics of the vehicle. Together with Stoner, Capirossi and Bagnaia he is in the pack of the strongest Ducatisti ever. DAfter leaving MotoGP, Dovi was convinced by Yamaha’s satellite team. He returned to the track in 2021, becoming Valentino Rossi’s last historic teammate. The move to the Petronas team’s M1 did not give him any particular satisfaction.

In 2022 he tried again to help the team excel, but failed to make a difference. The current results of the Iwata team, moreover, have revealed an atavistic technical limitation of the M1. Andrea said goodbye to everyone and dedicated himself to his new life on motocross bikes. Dirt roads have always been a passion for the winner of the 2004 125 championship.

Scary accident for Dovizioso

The centaur from Romagna remained in the hearts of MotoGP fans for his exploits. He has won 24 races in his career, reaching the podium on 103 occasions. Numbers that certify the absolute value of the 38 year old from Forlì. Unfortunately, during training on the cross bike, on the Terranuova Bracciolini track, in the province of Arezzo, the centaur fell badly. The MotoGP legend was immediately transported, as a precaution, by air ambulance to the Florentine hospital in Careggi where he was diagnosed with a fracture of his right collarbone.

Andrea finally returned home but he had a tough time. He posted a video on Instagram to thank everyone who was close to him in this difficult physical situation.

The pilot explained in detail: “I broke my right collarbone, they had to operate because it was in a bit of a bad state and they had to fix the acromion ligaments. The other fractures, however, are nothing serious, they require a little patience. I broke two ribs, three vertebral processes, a small crack in the sternum, I upset the nerve in my left knee, I had a small paresis of the foot but it is already 100% recovered. I broke my left wrist, but in a composed way. And I have a small fracture of the acetabulum of the pelvis and I have to give him the lei, I will have to use the wheelchair for 2/3 weeks“. He will come out of this with his head held high, as he has always done in his career in difficult moments.
