On May 5th the village of Ponte dell’Olio returns to dress up to celebrate its product of excellence: pancetta Piacentina, one of the three PDO cured meats that the province of Piacenza boasts among its agri-food riches together with coppa and salami Piacenza. It will be an important event created to attract visitors and taste explorers to the Val Nure village, in search of good food, culture and nature.

On Sunday May 5th starting from 9 am and ending at 7 pm, numerous food stands will be distributed throughout the town to liven up a big party and the shops will be open all day. This year the Bacon Fair will return to Piazza I Maggio, the beating heart of the village. At 9.30am the stand of the “Author’s Pancetteria”, organized by the community cooperative ValNure, will open the event, and you will be able to taste the pancettas from the Ponte dell’Olio cured meat factories. For the occasion, Riserva del Borgo pancetta will be cut, 30 pancetta seasoned for 12 months in the municipal cellars, a true Pontolliese excellence that can only be found on this occasion. There will be no shortage of musical moments and other entertainment initiatives gathered in a full program that will accompany visitors throughout the day.

There will be two recreational-creative moments for children: at 10am and 3pm, organized by the Masterkids Italia association: “In the kitchen with Masterkids”, where children will be able to improvise as great chefs and cook pisarei and gnocchi. At 11 am in Via Vittorio Veneto, in front of the former town hall, the event will begin with the official inauguration of the 20th edition of the Pancetta Fair in the presence of the authorities, followed by the parade of the historic Pontolliese Band and its majorettes. At 12 pm the ASD Il Nuovo Balletto ducale dance school based in Ponte dell’Olio awaits you in Piazza I Maggio for a performance of classical and modern dance. To spend a nice day you certainly can’t miss out on gastronomy: at 12 all the bars and restaurants in the village will offer themed menus in which bacon will be the protagonist. In Piazza I Maggio there will be food and wine stands with the possibility of having lunch under the Palapancetta tensile structure.

The program of initiatives will also continue in the afternoon with a second musical appointment with the Pontolliese Band, at 3 pm and, at 4 pm, it will continue with an extra virgin olive oil tasting event organized by the Azienda Agricola Bononi in the suggestive exhibition space of the former – Furnaces. The last event of the day is organized by the Valnure community cooperative which offers “A tour of Pancetta”: aperitif based on wines and cured meats from Val Nure at 5pm at their stand in Piazza I Maggio. The event, now in its twentieth edition, is organized by the Municipality of Ponte dell’Olio, in collaboration with the CoolTour cooperative, the ValNure community cooperative, the Vega group and with various local associations and entities.
