The tender dedicated to dry stone walls worth 9.4 million euros under measure 4.4 of the PSR (Rural Development Programme) concluded the request collection phase, registering 1,323 applications as of the closing date of Tuesday 23 April.

“An important measure given that in Liguria there are approximately 42 thousand hectares of terraces that protect the territory from a landscape and agro-climatic-environmental point of view – says the vice president of the Liguria Region with responsibility for Agriculture and Hinterland Development Alessandro Flat –. Dry stone walling is an art, to be protected and handed down, which makes the most difficult terrain cultivable, with great effort amply repaid by the very high quality of our products”. Dry stone walls are essential for maintaining the soil in the event of severe bad weather and are an element in combating hydrogeological instability.

“We have had excellent feedback – continues the Councilor for Agriculture – thanks to the work of the Offices and the streamlining of the procedure, with one-stop methods, which has made it easy to apply online. Over 700 requests have already been processed, and the first payment requests are being prepared.”
The beneficiaries are agricultural companies, public bodies, land owners and managers.
