Cassino, first day of work for the new traffic police

NewsThis morning the eight local police officers went on duty. Together with them, Mayor Salera, who announces: “From next Saturday they will sweep the city’s weekly market, first of all to repress illegal activity and keep in order the stalls which too often take up part of the road which they could not occupy”

First day of work for the new policemen hired by the municipality of Cassino. The newly hired agents, still without uniform, wore the famous “fratino” to make themselves visible.

At their first outing, the mayor of the Martyr City, Enzo Salera, wanted to be present and explained what the tasks will be for the new young agents of the local police: “A constant surveillance service of the pedestrian area with one/two policemen, depending on the shifts , a more widespread control of the territory, especially of the more peripheral neighborhoods or at least external to the city center”.

Furthermore, from next Saturday – he added – they will sweep the city’s weekly market, first of all to repress illegal activity and keep in order the stalls which too often take up part of the road which they could not occupy”.

This morning the city seemed almost “besieged” by the new agents who come from the eligible lists of Minturno and SS Cosma and Damiano in the province of Latina. The early risers of Cassino were almost surprised to see so much “grace” in a city where the lack of traffic police has always been a long-standing problem.

In fact, many times, even the municipal police command was left undefended, with at most only one policeman who, when called by some citizen, could do nothing but shrug. With these new units, the music is expected to change, even if only for the next six months of the duration of their contract. At least for now.
