The new American Airlines onboard experience kicks off with the launch of new amenities, dining and more

American Airlines is enhancing the flying experience ahead of the summer season with a series of premium on-board services to make travel even more enjoyable. Passengers will fly in style thanks to a new series of amenity kits and bedding and will be able to enjoy new dishes during the journey. In the future, passengers will be able to count on an increasingly high-level experience thanks to the introduction of the new seats Flagship Suites®.

American has collaborated with several boutiques and renowned brands to create a program that will evolve over the years and which, in addition to the new bedding, will feature rotating designer amenity kits and high-quality skincare products.

New and elegant services

The new program will be available on board more than 300 international and transcontinental flights, starting Memorial Day weekend, in cabins Flagships® First Class, Flagships® Business Class And Premium Economy.

The main amenity kit of American will be available all year round for premium cabin passengers. The kit will include key products, such as an oral hygiene set, eye mask and earplugs, as well as new products and evolving skincare offerings. American will include new brands and rotating products in the kits for passengers in all premium cabins, creating a unique experience for each trip, based directly on their feedback.

American has collaborated with beauty retailer Thirteen Lune to curate the skincare offering, which will feature high-quality beauty brands from Thirteen Lune’s exclusive collection with a broad representation of prestigious beauty voices, including Joanna Vargas and Relevant.

Limited edition amenity kit

In addition to these rotating products within the amenity kits, passengers will be able to appreciate special limited edition kits created in collaboration with several designers and brands based mainly in the United States. Through the design of these special kits, American will celebrate specific milestones and initiatives that reflect the values ​​and backgrounds of the airline’s passengers and team members. These limited edition kits will be introduced over the coming months and years.

In fact, the new amenity kit program will launch with the special edition Thirteen Lune kit, giving passengers the chance to discover the new line and the opportunity to start collecting the limited edition kits. Passengers flying in premium cabins will receive the Thirteen Lune kit for the first few weeks of the new program’s launch. Then, for the rest of the summer, passengers will be able to receive the main amenity kit on board.

Each special kit will be available for a limited time, on selected flights in Flagships® First Class, Flagships® Business Class And Premium Economy. Passengers will be able to learn about each brand and partner included in the special amenity kit by scanning a QR code found inside.

New bed kit inspired by passenger feedback

Passengers will travel in high comfort thanks to new bedding, pillows and pajamas that meet passengers’ expectations for a restful on-board experience. In research conducted by American, travelers said that 75% preferred double-sided pillows, with different materials on each side of the pillow. Based on this feedback, passengers traveling in Flagships® First Class or Flagships® Business Class they will appreciate a cushion with cool touch fabric on one side and traditional fabric on the other.

Passengers traveling in Flagships® First Class on international flights they will continue to have a set of pajamas available, based on feedback that 80% of first class passengers appreciate having pajamas on board. Furthermore, travelers from Flagships® Business Class will be able to benefit from slippers on board on all international flights, rather than just very long-haul flights.

Passengers in all cabins, including the Premium Economy and the Main Cabinwill benefit from improved bedding, with cabin-specific options such as lumbar pillows, blankets, premium duvets and fleece blankets, all developed by industry-leading premium brands.

American partnered with aviation textile company John Horsfall to develop bedding made from recycled materials in the Re-Thread collection®.

Nearly all of the pillows, duvets and blankets created for American flights are made with recycled fibers that maintain a premium feel, while the bedding is made from 100% recycled material. To reduce single-use plastic waste related to the distribution of pillows and blankets, passengers traveling in Flagships® First, Flagships® Business And Premium Economy they will now receive their bedding in a reusable zippered bag, also made from recycled fibres. Using the bag will save 25 tons of plastic waste per year.

The new menus

During the journey passengers can enjoy different flavors and new menus inspired by the destinations of American Airlines most requested all over the world. The offer includes pasta, salads and other dishes inspired by international cuisine.

Passengers traveling to one of the new summer destinations of American, such as Nice, Naples or Copenhagen, will be able to enjoy delicious dishes such as sea bass in a macadamia crust with citrus cream sauce, quinoa, toasted barley and green beans.
