Collesanto Gas Field: LNEnergy responds to the Mayor of Bomba

A few days after the complaints of the mayor of Bomba Raffaele Nasuti regarding the lack of a hydrogeological study for the gas field project in Collesanto, the response from LNEnergy.

Regarding the Small Scale LNG project at the Collesanto gas field by LNEnergy, the company has conducted a geomorphological monitoring campaign, currently being finalized, in the field area, as part of the EIA procedure underway since February 2024.

“We learn from the press – states LNEnergy – of the regret expressed by the mayor of Bomba Raffaele Nasuti, for the failure on our part to present the Hydrogeological Study, so much so that we asked the Ministry to block our Project. We regret that our PEC communication to the Ministry dated 11 April 2024 escaped your attention. In this communication it was specified that by the end of the current month we would have transmitted all the technical-scientific in-depth studies, as well as the counter-arguments to the Observations of the Public. In any case, we trust in his availability to discuss the investigation work carried out, hoping for greater protagonism of the territory in the management of the project”.

“LNEnergy has always demonstrated – continues the Company – its sensitivity towards the territory and its respect towards the population, approaching its investigations with caution and consideration in its ways and actions, precisely in line with the requirements that emerged from the Preliminary Consultation procedure (for brevity Scoping) referred to in Opinion 601 of 14 November 2022 of the MASE”.

As part of these activities and to resolve all issues related to geomorphological processes, the design company commissioned by LNEnergy has activated an agreement with the “G.d’Annunzio” University of Chieti-Pescara. Given the sensitivity and importance of the issues under consideration, the University itself promoted the establishment of a Technical-Scientific Committee (CTS for short) in which local and regional territorial entities were also invited to participate. Crucial topics of the Committee are, in fact, in-depth analyses, analyzes aimed at understanding the local hydrogeological instability and the geomorphological susceptibility in the vicinity of the lake. Unfortunately, the municipal administration of Bomba declined this invitation, unlike the Montana Union of Sangro Municipalities which, with the consent of Mayor Nasuti himself, identified its own delegate within the CTS. The presence of the mayor of Bomba or his delegate would have represented an added value both for the Committee and for its community.

“We renew the invitation to Mayor Nasuti to participate in the Technical-Scientific Committee – concludes LNEnergy – so that he can constantly have updates, through scientific evidence, on the state of geomorphological monitoring and, above all, on the situation of the Bomba territory and on the impacts of the various factors that interest him.”
