After second place at the Agon Tarantinos, the student Marco Pesare of the “De Sanctis-Galilei” classical high school of Manduria wins the XXXI edition of the Certamen Ennianum – External Students section, organized by the “Palmieri” classical high school of Lecce
Already victorious at the Agòn Tharantinoswhich took place on April 6, where he achieved second place for the second consecutive year poar, the student Marco Pesare, From highschool “De Sanctis-Galilei” of Manduria, classical address, won the XXXI edition of the External Students section Certamen Ennianuman international competition in Latin language and culture, reserved for students in the penultimate and final year of Italian and foreign high schools, accredited among the initiatives for the valorization of excellence envisaged by the Ministry of Education and Merit.

The “Certamen Ennianum” has the aim of promoting contacts and cultural exchanges between high schools in the national territory and abroad, to deepen the knowledge of the great Latin poet Q. Ennio, Rudino by birth, as well as to promote the Salento area through the knowledge of the Messapic cities of Salento.
This year the theme of the test was: “Beauty. Ad omne pulchrum vir bonus sine ulla cunctatione procurret [l’uomo onesto si getterà senza alcuna esitazione verso tutto ciò che è bello] (Sen., Epistulae ad Lucilium 66, 21)”.
The competitors, with Italian and Latin dictionaries in hand, within five hours, had to translate the Latin text into Italian, adding, however, a linguistic, historical, interpretative and literary-critical commentary.
