LOMAZZO – Accident this morning on the A9, in the province of Como: the toll is four people injured, at least two of whom are in serious condition. The alarm went off just before 8.30 am at the Fino Mornasco junction, towards Lainate. Here, for reasons still under investigation, two cars collided.
The impact was violent and the alarm was immediate. Several ambulances arrived on site under code red, as well as the air ambulance, the firefighters and the police. At least four people were taken into care by health workers, including a 16-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy: two of them were transported to hospital under code red, the maximum emergency. Among them was the child, who was resuscitated and loaded onto the air ambulance before being transported to the Papa Giovanni XXIII hospital in Bergamo by air ambulance.
The A9 is currently closed to traffic between Fino Mornasco and Lomazzo Nord in both directions and only reopened in late morning.
