With the holidays at the end of April and beginning of May, the new season officially begins in Marina di Varazze which, like every year, will dedicate initiatives to its owners as well as to visitors and to the city. Sports, test days organized by the Marina operators, dealers of the most important brands in the nautical world, music and fun for everyone will be part of a rich program which will also have as its core the many clubs and restaurants that animate the central quay.

While the final touches are being made to the summer calendar of musical evenings which this year has the surprise of a new format in store, everything is ready to get off to a great start on the last weekend of the month with initiatives dedicated to seafaring enthusiasts. The Italian Naval League – Varazze Section in collaboration with Salvemini, a historic jewelery shop active for 120 years in Varazze and Genoa, organizes a rich calendar of sailing events which are part of the ‘Three Generations a Jewel’ sporting events promoted by the jewelery shop itself. The first appointments are scheduled for April 28th, May 5th and 26th and, after a break in the warmer months, will resume in autumn with new dates: September 22nd, October 20th and December 1st.

From sailing, we move on to engines. With V Marine, dealer of Azimut Yachts, Pirelli Speedboats and Sacs, it will be possible to visit and learn about the brands’ news during the ‘open days’ which will be held from 25 to 28 April 2024 from 10:00 to 17:00. Among the models on display: Azimut Magellano 60, Azimut 53, 60, 68 and 78 Flybridge and the Azimut S7, S8; Pirelli 30, 42 and 50. Alongside the boats, the Ineos Grenadier off-road cars and the creations of the sports watch brand Norqain. For visits, reservations are required.

Finally, May 8th will be an important day for the protection of our marine ecosystem. In collaboration with the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences of the University of Pavia, a research project will be launched on this date which aims to test new methods of managing biological invasion with the aim of mitigating the phenomenon at protection of biodiversity.

To date, in fact, navigation is an involuntary vector for the migration of alien species, thus making port areas hot spots for their expansion: these research initiatives are fundamental to understanding the phenomenon and to developing practical solutions to make the sustainable port activity. Special ‘bricks’ will be positioned in various areas of the port basin for sampling and monitoring of species; customers and, in general, boats that frequent the port will also be invited to preserve its integrity and therefore its functioning.
