Minister Piantedosi arrives tomorrow

Preparations are underway and anticipation is mounting for the ceremony awarding the gold medal for civil merit to the Province of Frosinone.
It is scheduled for tomorrow, starting from 11.30, in the square in front of Palazzo Jacobucci, headquarters of the supra-municipal body (in case of bad weather, it will take place inside in the reception hall).
For the important occasion, the Minister of the Interior, Matteo Piantedosi, will arrive in the capital. The head of the department, in March, during a meeting at the Interior Ministry, had communicated to President Luca Di Stefano the decision that the Province’s banner would soon be decorated with the prestigious recognition of high moral and symbolic value.
Tomorrow, in Frosinone, the highest civil, military and religious authorities of the territory will also be present.

«I would like to thank Minister Piantedosi on behalf of all the citizens of the province – explained Di Stefano after hearing the news -. We will pay homage to the victims, we will honor the courage of the survivors and we will continue to cherish in our hearts the heritage of sacrifice and hope that has brought us this far” he added.
And tomorrow, 25 April, the day of liberation from Nazi occupation, will be the day of remembrance more than eighty years after the beginning of the drama and devastation that marked the territory during the Second World War after 8 September 1943 , day of the announcement of the armistice. Thousands of civilian deaths, injuries, displaced people, families left homeless and several towns reduced to a pile of rubble, totally or almost totally destroyed due to numerous air raids. Tons of explosives dropped on Ciociaria by the bombers of the allied forces: from Frosinone to Ferentino, from Anagni to Vallecorsa up to Cassinate and the martyr city located on the Gustav line and therefore a bloody and bloody battlefield. Cassino, for the high tribute paid, has already been awarded the gold medal for military valor for years; other municipalities, however, have received the award for civil merit: in some cases it is gold, in others it is silver or bronze.
The anguish and pain suffered in that period, as well as the gestures of courage, heroism and solidarity, will tomorrow be at the center of what promises to be an evocative ceremony, full of meaning. In addition to Minister Piantedosi, the administrators of Piazza Gramsci and the mayors of Ciociaria will be present.

THE MOTIVATION

This is the reason for the decoration for the Province: «By virtue of the immense suffering suffered and the extraordinary resilience demonstrated» in the period of the «tragic events that tormented the territory during the Second World War, in the years 1943 and 1944».
The Municipality of Frosinone, meanwhile, as announced by the mayor Riccardo Mastrangeli, will request the award of the silver medal for civil merit. To date, the capital has been granted the bronze one.
