They will be tried on charges of causing the death of their daughter, a three-month-old baby, as a result of the mistreatment to which they subjected her. The two parents, both 30 years old, live in Garlasco (Pavia), in Lomellina. The story, reported today by the newspaper «La Provincia Pavese», dates back to 2021.

What happened

At first it was thought to be a case of “cot death”. It was her mother who called the ambulance on the morning of November 28, 2021, saying that she had found her daughter in a cyanotic cradle and with breathing difficulties. Her baby was resuscitated and urgently transported to San Matteo in Pavia, where she died shortly after hospitalization. More than two years later, the autopsy results blame her parents. The autopsy examination revealed several fractures (even though there were no signs of violence on her body) and also traces of deterioration with a weight lower than the child should have had. The Prosecutor’s Office requested the trial for both parents: the defense requested access to the abbreviated trial.
