Anbernic has announced the launch price and release date of its latest compact gaming handheld. Arriving this week for under $50, the Anbernic RG28XX packs an Allwinner H70 chipset, 1GB of RAM, and a 2.8-inch display for a pocket-sized gaming experience on the go.

https://twitter.com/RetroGameCorps/status/1782460008904773937 has revealed the launch price of the RG28XX, less than two weeks after Anbernic unveiled the device. In recent times, the company has focused on releasing 3.5-inch gaming handhelds, most recently with the 2024 RG35XX. The RG28XX is the company’s first model with a 2.8-inch display after the ‘RG280M (currently $69.99 on Amazon), which followed the RG280V RG280V.

The RG28XX will retail for $47.99 on Anbernic’s website. However, the company will offer the device for $43.99, a savings of 8%, when sales open on April 25 at 10:00 UTC. By default, the RG28XX will ship with a 64GB microSD card. Alternatively, you will be able to purchase the device for $58.99 with 64GB and 128GB MicroSD cards, compared to the retail price of $62.99.

As expected, Anbernic will sell the RG28XX in Beige White, Black Transparent, Gray, and Lava finishes. Based on early reviews from Retro Game Corps, the RG28XX is powerful enough to emulate up to Nintendo 64 and Dreamcast games. Furthermore, its Allwinner H700 chipset and 1GB of LPDDR4 RAM can handle some simple PlayStation Portable (PSP) games. Please see the Anbernic website for more details.
