“No praise, I should have been clearer” – DiLei

Marco Liorni has ended up at the center of controversy due to an exit deemed “unfortunate” (to put it mildly) by some viewers. At the center of the matter is a question regarding the manifestation ofGold to the Homeland, dating back to 1935 and organized by the then fascist government of Benito Mussolini. TO The legacy it is normal to talk about history but what the public (in part) did not digest was the apparent praise of the event in question by the presenter who, ferociously accused, decided to share a clarifying video on Instagramspecifying his position.

The offending words in L’Eredità

A few hours after the disaster unleashed following the censorship of Antonio Scurati’s monologue on April 25th, which celebrates the liberation of Italy from Nazi occupation and the fascist regime and should have been broadcast on Serena Bortone’s program (who decided anyway to read it personally), a crisis has hit Raianother rain of criticism.

Or rather, it was Marco Liorni, host of the show, who paid the price The legacy who just during the game last April 21st found himself reading and commenting on a question about the Gold to the Homeland. The legacy often deals with historical events, in this case focusing on one national demonstration which was established in 1935 by the Mussolini regime (it is also remembered as Faith Day), when “Italian spouses deliver their wedding rings to their homeland in exchange for worthless rings”, as the question stated.

After the contestant’s correct answer, the host said: “Think so many families have done this truly patriotic gesture, that of donating the wedding ring to the country with a receipt and a ring of no value”. And it is precisely on that “patriotic” that Liorni’s praise was shouted.

Marco Liorni’s clarifying video

After hours of criticism and comments via social media, Marco Liorni has decided to dispel any doubts about his position. No praise of fascist patriotism (in many cases imposed on Italians, among other things), but the story of a historical event according to the mentality of the time.

“When we recorded and this question appeared on the screen it gave me emotions, because it has been talked about many times in the family – he explained in a video shared on Instagram -. My grandparents in particular had talked to me about it, even my father who was born in those days, so he in turn reported things my grandmother had told me. It was a day of great suffering. Taking off your gold wedding ring to put on an iron one in that Italy was a painful gesture, but also a gesture of patriotism. This is what they told me and what history says seen with the spirit of the times, not with today’s eyes. In that Italy, at that moment, on that day, donating gold to the homeland was done out of a patriotic spirit, then there were also stories of people who did it but didn’t want to do it.”

Finally, his position regarding the regime: “I wanted to say to anyone who might have thought that I was praising fascism through this thing and also to the internet thugs (…) that I am an anti-fascist, so I could never praise fascism (…). I was describing the emotion of that day from the perspective of those times (…). I owed you this clarification. I feel sorry for those who interpreted it in a different way, perhaps I should have been more clear but that was the intention. I think we also need to all calm down a bit and discuss more constructive issues and in a more civilized way.”
