SAINT BENEDICT PO – Failure to comply with union agreements regarding shift changes, lack of staff, failure to comply with health and safety regulations and the very high levels of stress caused by the attitude of the New Management. These are some of the problems that led the unions and workers to proclaim a state of unrest starting yesterday in the San Benedetto Po RSA managed by the Sanithad Cooperative. The trade union organizations – FP Cgil Mantova, CISL FP Asse del Po have called for a state of agitation and displayed their flags in front of the retirement home headquarters as a sign of protest. ” Around 39 people work in the RSA, almost all of whom are women. The problems have been dragging on for years but only in the last year has the attitude of the management within the San Benedetto RSA meant that the exhausted staff actually gave the mandate to proceed with the state of agitation. For years now – explains Najoua Chahramane FP Cgil Mantova Official – we have reported problems and held various negotiation tables, many of the problems reported with a lot of effort and patience have been resolved through union agreements. Despite the difficulties, the Cooperative has always had a positive and collaborative attitude towards the trade unions, but with the installation of the new Director and Coordinator within the structure the working climates have degenerated and trade union relations have completely deteriorated. In a historical period like this in which the shortage of staff is increasingly important, in which people work on a permanent basis with a lack of staff, the hostile, overbearing attitude and lack of respect on the part of the new Management of the Structure towards the staff are currently unsustainable and unacceptable. Rosanna Magnani of Fp Cisl Asse del Po – we are aware of the difficulties of staff shortages but the issue of safety must return to the center of attention for the protection of the health and safety of staff. We met several times with the Cooperative and it seemed we had found the solution to the staff’s difficulties, but the Coordination’s attitude is always less than empathetic towards them. The now unsustainable situation was clearly explained by my colleague FP Cgil. It is time for the Union to take unequivocal positions to protect workers in this sector which is suffering from the situation that arose after the pandemic. In proclaiming the state of unrest, the trade unions decided to suspend all overtime and additional work and asked for a cooling-off attempt at the Prefecture of Mantua”. On the evening of 04.23.2024, the company communicated its availability to open the dialogue; the trade unions will reserve the right to evaluate together with the delegates whether to accept the proposal or whether to meet directly in the Prefecture at a “protected” table
