Twenty years of Detachment of volunteer firefighters: last Saturday Canelli wanted to remember the birth, in 2004, of this very important garrison on the will of a first group of pioneers who, among great sacrifices, began their activity in the headquarters of the Cross Rossa and then moved to the current structure made available by the Municipality.
An important birthday which saw the presence of many authorities: the regional director Alessandro Paola, the provincial commander Giuseppe Calvelli, the Knight of the Grand Cross Gino Gronchi, the regional coordinator Roberto Zanin, the regional councilor Marco Gabusi, the former commander of Asti Turturici, current commander of Bologna, the engineer Di Martino, also a former commander of Asti now retired, the mayor of Canelli Paolo Lanzavecchia, the provincial councilor Angelica Corino, the councilor for volunteering Raffaella Basso, as well as all the positions soldiers from the area, such as the commander of the Canelli Company Captain Lorenzo Conti and Lieutenant Antonio La Fata, commander of the Canelli station. Also present at the event was the commander of the Canelli Finance Department.
The day after the more official ceremony, the event always much loved by children, Pompieropoli, was held: over 350 budding firefighters tried their hand at an obstacle course under the supervision of the National Association of Fire Brigades, Section of Asti which gave an important contribution to the realization of the event.
