”I was a reckless mother”

This is who I am Malcolm and Gloria Pagani, the children of Barbara Alberti and Amedeo Pagani. Not long ago the writer told some anecdotes during an interview on the program Freewheeling herehosted by Caterina Balivo.

Malcolm and Gloria, who are Barbara Alberti’s children

Born from her marriage to Amedeo Pagani, film producer and screenwriter, Malcolm and Gloria are the children of the writer Barbara Alberti. Gloria is the eldest, born in 1965, she is a teacher of Arabic languages. Malcolm, on the other hand, works in the publishing world: he is in fact deputy editor of Vanity Fair and a very successful writer. The two have a relationship with their mother based on irony as can also be seen from the anecdotes told by Barbara Alberti in an interview on Caterina Balivo’s programme, Freewheeling here:

“I was an unconscious mother, I became one by chance. The first when I was 20, the second at 30. In those days it could be done, life cost much less and there was work. We lived day by day. The house was a mess and they even turned off the electricity, but we laughed anyway.”

The writer then continued:

“Gloria has always been like us, while Malcom didn’t like that life. When he was little he was practically adopted by the Santoro family, that is, that of one of his classmates. They were very tidy, he was thrilled because he had found the wardrobes and drawers in their house with the socks paired in the right place. For him it was a way to feel safe, he was crazy with joy.”.
