Protests in Israel over early voting and release of hostages

The Editorial Staff Saturday 20 April 2024, 5.39pm

(ANSA) – ROME, APRIL 20 – Protests are multiplying in Israel against the government of Benyamin Nethanyahu and for the release of the hostages with demonstrations and rallies planned in the main cities of the country from Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, from Caesarea to Haifa. The main national newspapers report it. Three rallies are planned in Tel Aviv where, in addition to calling for early elections, the families of the hostages will take to the streets to reiterate their requests to the government. Last Saturday, protests in Tel Aviv ended early after police ordered the crowd to disperse, coinciding with instructions from Israel’s Home Front Command ahead of the Iranian missile attack. During last week’s protests, police did not allow torches to be lit, to prevent protesters from starting street fires. A protest will be held in Caesarea this evening calling for the impeachment of Prime Minister Netanyahu. In recent weeks there have been clashes between police and protesters near the house of the Israeli prime minister. (HANDLE).
