The countdown is now over: the association’s activity starts again on Monday 22 April Lake and River People. The winter served to give a new approach to the working group and think about an enriched program that will cover a long journey together, from April to October, when the festival will return, which takes place between Isola Pescatori, Stresa and Verbania .

The first appointment is with the educational and gastronomic meetings on the veranda of the garden of the Piccolo Lago restaurant in Verbania. Monday April 22, starting at 10.30, a forum dedicated to the sturgeon will be held, the fish that lives between the sea and fresh water (where it reproduces) known for its meat, but famous in particular for its eggs, caviar. In fact, modern farming techniques allow the production of caviar while safeguarding the fish. We will talk about it with two experts, who will talk to chefs Marco Saccopresident of Gente di Lago e di Fiume: Pierpaolo Gibertoniveterinarian and ichthyologist, e Marco Menghini, expert in restocking lakes and rivers. Gibertoni and Menghini are also on the board of directors of the association based in Stresa. Participation in the meeting is free, but it is recommended to confirm participation by calling 3294409534. At the end there will be a lunch at a cost of 60 euros, drinks included, and in this case booking is mandatory.

2024 marks a change of pace in the valorization of the association’s “manifesto”, also opening up to blogger and content creator. Between May and June, meetings will be organized to bring the social world closer to people from lakes and rivers and to the chefs who value freshwater cuisine the most. On these occasions bloggers and journalists will also be brought to the table to launch the October events. In the same period they will be promoted meetings in schools, while from September 1st to October 15th many restaurants in Northern Italy will put a dish based on freshwater fish on their menu, creating a connection with the philosophy of the association. The dates for the October festival have already been set, which will be extended by an extra day. We will leave on Saturday October 12 in Verbania, on Sunday 13th everyone will be on Isola Pescatori with the local restaurateurs who host starred chefs of international caliber, on Monday 14th again the island, with cultural and scientific meetings, and on Tuesday 15th conclusion at the Teatro Maggiore in Verbania with high school students.

The meeting of Gente di Lago di Fiume members is scheduled for Monday 22 April, one hour before the meeting, at 9.30 am. “We are starting again with great enthusiasm – says the president Marco Sacco – convinced of the work done in recent years to enhance freshwater fish as a quality element in the kitchen. It was a far-sighted path, which gave impetus to the inland water territories and contributed to the development of the tourist market”.
