GUIDONIA – “Miguel’s Thousand”, Simone Cavallaro wins the schools race

He practiced swimming, fencing, horse riding and pistol shooting, always achieving excellent results.

As Simone Cavallaro, 16 years old from Marco Simone, Guidonia Montecelio district, student of the Cardano Institute of Monterotondo, won “Miguel’s Thousand”the race open to lower and upper secondary schools to remember the Argentine cross-country marathon runner Miguel Sanchez held on March 21st at the Nando Martellini Stadium of the Baths of Caracalla, in Rome.

On Tuesday 16 April at the Palazzetto dello Sport in viale Tiziano, at the Flaminio, Simone received recognition for being the fastest student in the category born in 2008 having crossed the finish line in 2 minutes 47 seconds and 8 thousandths.
The student was accompanied to the ceremony by his Physical Education teacher Fiorella Masciotti.

The victory in the “Miguel’s Thousand” is a confirmation of the talent of Marco Simone’s 16-year-old who practices athletics in “Atletica Fiano Romano” club.
It is no coincidence that Simone Cavallaro ranked in 2023 second at the Italian Modern Pentathlon Championship24th at the European Modern Pentathlon Championship with the national team and 17th at the Italian Athletics Championship.

In 2024 the athlete recorded the seventh time in the 800 Indoor in Lazio and the 32nd time in Italy also in the 800 Indoor.
