The era in which the first series of the franchise will be set has been revealed
As reported by Deadline, Sandra Yi Sencindiveralready appreciated in Foundationjoined the series Alien made by FX e Noah Hawley, which is filming in Thailand. But the newspaper also revealed in which period the show will be set.
Produced by Ridley Scott, the prequel series will be set towards the end of this century (a few years before Prometheus and about thirty years before Scott’s original film). It will be the first project in the franchise whose story will take place on Earth and will reportedly deal with the birth of the infamous Weyland-Yutani Corporation and the race between corporations to create new life in android form.
The series will star Sydney Chandler, Alex Lawther, Essie Davis, Adarsh Gourav, Kit Young, Timothy Olyphant, David Rysdahl, Babou Cessay, Erana James, Lily Newmark and Adrian Edmonson.
The Alien series is designed for multiple seasons
We know that Sencindiver will appear in multiple episodes and play a senior member of the Weyland-Yutani Corporation and it sounds like there will be room for the character to grow in any subsequent seasons.
John Landgraf, head of FX, recently described the series as a “great imaginative reimagining” of the Alien franchise and compared it to Hawley’s work on Fargo. He also confirmed that the show is “designed to be a multi-season series“.
Alien: the series developed by Noah Hawley will not arrive before 2025
The Alien franchise has been dormant since 2017’s Alien: Covenant, but this summer fans will be able to break their fast with the arrival of director Fede Álvarez’s feature film Alien: Romulus. There’s no release date yet for the FX series, but with filming expected to stretch into the summer, 2025 is the most likely year. Last year the series had to stop filming for a time due to strikes in Hollywood.
