“Fasano comune cardioprotetto”, the presentation of the initiative yesterday

The project, in memory of Giuseppe Sannolla, represents a step forward in the management of cardiac emergencies through the use of an app

FASANO – The press conference presenting the “Fasano cardioprotetto comune” project took place yesterday (18 April) in the reception room of Palazzo di Città, moderated by the municipal councilor Giuseppe Ventrella. After the greetings of the mayor Francesco Zaccaria, who underlined the importance of strengthening the bond between associations and volunteers in the mission of making Fasano a cardioprotected municipality, Giuseppe Larato, creator of the app, took the floor.

“My city online”, this is the name of the app where there is also a section dedicated to the Patronal Festival, can be downloaded for iOS and Android, and its features were illustrated by the developer, Graziano Albanese, owner of Informatica&Consulenza. On the application, once all the functions have been made available, it will be possible to monitor a map of the points with the location of the defibrillators in the city of Fasano. In addition, there will be the possibility to contact useful numbers, consult access times and navigate to the selected defibrillator. “Soon – says the developer – there will be other useful information, such as the presence of demonstration videos based on the contents that we will collect and make available on the app itself”.

The cardiologist Dr. Francesco Loliva then illustrated the differences between cardiac arrest and heart attack, with a long excursus that goes from the causes to the statistics in some developed countries, without forgetting the progress made in many areas where there is an advanced health culture on the use of the defibrillator and first aid procedures, such as the project started more than twenty years ago in Piacenza.

In this regard, the national First Aid instructor Donato D’Amico, member of the Cultural Association “Salvare su dalle”, demonstrated the correct use of the automatic external defibrillator (AED), as well as providing valuable information on life-saving manoeuvres. Most of the time it is, in fact, a fight against time, which only adequate preparation, combined with the right knowledge, can be won by the whole community.

There was no shortage of time to remember Giuseppe Sannolla, on the first anniversary of his death, with the donation made by the Sannolla family as part of the project for the distribution of AEDs in the area. An evening symbol of how the entire community can become at the forefront in the management of cardiac emergencies.
