CHIARAVALLE – For the past 13 years he had lived permanently in the Ivory Coast, where he was responsible for the construction of a church and a hospital in the city of Dianra. Yesterday afternoon, around 3pm local time, while he was reaching the city of San Pedro by car, home of the delegation of the Consolata Missionaries of which he was part, he collided with a bus. The very violent frontal attack gave him no chance.

The memory
Father Matteo Pettinari, originally from Chiaravalle, who grew up in Monte San Vito and ordained a priest in 2010 in the Diocese of Senigallia, died at the age of 42. Father Matteo, who had Africa in his heart, after two years of experience in Madrid (where he was ordained deacon) in 2011 dedicated himself to evangelization in the Ivory Coast, designing and building a church and a dispensary, then became a provincial hospital, in the city of Dianra, thanks also to the offers received from Italy. And he always kept the faithful updated on social media about the works he carried out, maintaining close contact with the Diocese of Senigallia. He leaves behind his father, brother Marco and sister Francesca.
