A country mourning the death of a young man in a tragic road accident that occurred a few kilometers from his home to which he was returning. Great condolences to Costigliole d’Asti for the passing of Jacopo Gallo, whose life was cut short at the age of just 17 on Tuesday evening following the crash of his motorbike into a car, driven by a woman from Costigliole who the young man found himself in in front, in his lane, while he was traveling along Strada Ville, on the hill between the hamlets of San Carlo and San Michele. Hundreds of messages of condolence are reaching his family in these hours, his mother Francesca Placido, his father Massimo, both professionally engaged at the Apro school in Alba, his twin brothers Mattia and Azzurra, with whom he shared his passion for football. Resident in the Annunziata hamlet of Costigliole, fourth year student at the “Artom” institute in Asti and until last year a football player in the provincial students of the Montegrosso football club, Jacopo would have turned 18 on May 20th. He will be remembered this evening, Friday, at 8.30 pm, with the recitation of the rosary in the Costigliole parish church. Tomorrow, Saturday, at 1.30 pm, the funeral will be celebrated in the same church in Costigliole, and the body will then continue to the crematorium of Asti. For those who wish to remember and pay homage to Jacopo with tangible gestures, the family suggests not flowers, but offers addressed to the road victims association.

«A serious loss that affects our entire community. Jacopo’s family is well known and respected and the pain of the loss of a son, a family member, a young person makes us dismayed. On behalf of all the people of Costigliole, condolences to Jacopo’s family”, says the mayor Enrico Cavallero. «A cheerful boy, always smiling, with a good and kind soul, available to everyone and very busy starting from school»: this is the memory of Jacopo by Marco Curto, former mayor of Montegrosso and among the managers of the “Montegrosso Academy Fc , the Montegrossese football club where the young man played until last year. Curto followed the very team in which Jacopo and his brother Mattia played and in which the manager’s son himself played: a personal acquaintance that went beyond the game of football: «It was a nice group of friends, positive and cheerful guys. Just on Tuesday, Jacopo stopped by the football field to greet the coach and I had the opportunity to talk to him. He told me that he would like to start playing again and we were ready to have him back with us.” Even his friends on Tuesday evening understood that something was wrong, through a telephone application that located each of them, a tool through which they could practically understand where everyone was in case of need. Jacopo’s position had been stopped since 9pm on the way home.
