Frost. A witness will be heard, considered important by the defense with respect to the position of the lawyer Grazio Ferrara, convicted in the first instance for external complicity in a mafia association. The Court of Appeal of Caltanissetta decided this, ordering the renewal. A request to this effect came from the defendant’s defense, represented by the lawyer Giacomo Ventura. We will return to court in June. Ferrara, last year, was sentenced to six years and eight months of detention, following the objections raised by the prosecutors of the Nissena DDA who consider him to be the contact person of the boss Salvatore Rinzivillo, involved and arrested at the height of the maxi “Extra fines” investigation. The accused instead was reached by a provision as part of the “Exitus” investigation, based on the alleged supporters of Rinzivillo. Ferrara was the boss’s trusted lawyer and for the defense, which challenged the conviction, there would have been only professional relationships and nothing else. The prosecution instead claims that the accused acted as a bridge between Rinzivillo and the affiliates, especially from the moment of the arrest of the clan leader. The professional was monitored in his movements together with the boss and during meetings with criminals and presumed representatives of the clans in other areas of the island.
