“The candidacy of Ilaria Salis with the Alleanza Verdi Sinistra: courageous choice”
Descriptive text here

Some will think of this candidacy as a media choice aimed at gaining votes and exploiting a media effect linked to the images that have horrified many people.
For those who care about the most basic of things that make a person such, the dignity that every human being must have, this candidacy can be a lever to return to talking about justice and the effectiveness of punishment.

The images that we have all seen of Ilaria Salis in chains have provoked righteous indignation but I wonder, and we ask ourselves, do we have what it takes to denounce this horror at a time when the situation in our country, in different forms, is not very different from the Hungarian one?
Do we forget the horror of our prisons, the overcrowding, the unjust detention awaiting trial often in inhumane conditions?
There is a very heavy veil that often hides a now explosive situation that affects all of Europe, starting from our country.

Prison, CPRs used as social dumps.
Prison used not as a last resort but to hide the dust of so much social discomfort under the carpet, away from everyone’s eyes.
The choice to nominate Ilaria is important, albeit risky, but necessary.
Necessary to restore a season of rights that sees the deprivation of freedom as an extreme choice, a justice that does justice, the relaunch of a generous battle to defend a rule of law worthy of the name.
“The degree of civilization of a country is measured by observing the condition of its prisons” someone said.
So this is what Ilaria Salis’s candidacy must serve.
To remind us every day,

Beppe Almansi
