The strong explosion felt this morning north-west of the city of Isfahan was caused by the work of air defense systems, which engaged a “suspicious object”. The second brigadier general of the Iranian armed forces declared this to the “Tasnim” news agency Siyavash Mihandoust, according to which the attack launched against the local air base “caused no damage or accidents”. Israel launched an air strike against military targets in Iranian territory in the early hours of this morning. An anonymous US official confirmed this to the television station “CNN”, specifying that the objectives of the attack “are not nuclear”. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) rejected a request for comment from the broadcaster.

At least three explosions were heard this morning at an Iranian air base northwest of Isfahan, inCentral Iran, as reported by the “Fars” news agency. Anonymous military sources cited by the agency report that “the (air) defense systems have been activated” and shot down at least three suicide drones. According to the same sources, a military radar installation would be one of the targets of the attack. According to the Iranian news agency “Irna”, the Iranian armed forces have activated air defense systems in several provinces of the country as a precaution, but no large-scale attack is underway against the country. Anonymous sources cited by Iranian media also say that nuclear facilities in Isfahan province are “completely safe.” According to the US television station “ABC News”, explosions also occurred in Iraq and in Syria.
