Speaking for the Abruzzo Region was the councilor for Productive Activities, Industrial Research and Work, Tiziana Magnacca, former mayor of San Salvo and therefore perfectly aware of the problems existing in the plant.

“The fruitful defense activity carried out in recent years by President Marsilio in defense of Denso Italia and its workers has led to addressing today’s meeting at the Ministry if not in a decisive and definitive manner, but towards the opening of a concrete and effective glimpse into the possibility of maintaining existing employment levels, excluding choices that are harmful to workers”.

“The situation is certainly complex, but we are ready to do everything in our power to guarantee the continuity that can allow us to reach the economic-financial sustainability of the company without giving up in any way on the social sustainability and the protection of jobs “, says councilor Magnacca. “Let’s start with some certainties: Denso is a strategic company in the automotive supply chain in Abruzzo, which is the most important manufacturing sector for the Abruzzo economy and for the social cohesion of the region The other certainty expressed today is that relating to Denso’s desire to continue to constitute a reference point for internal combustion engine components, but also the desire to be so on the condition of becoming competitive again according to the parent company’s requests, for new products for electrification Now, also taking note of the requests of the trade unions, the Abruzzo Region has promptly taken action at MIMIT to find solutions to guarantee employment continuity, which constitutes an absolute priority to be committed to”.

Present for the department were Germano De Sanctis, director of the Productive Activities Department and Renzo Iride, head of the Corporate Crisis Office. The Ministry highlighted how the shock absorbers are not a solution but that it could be, by agreement with the Ministry of Labour, a means to overcome the current difficulties highlighted by DMIT and due to the uncertainties of the world market, without giving up the request for further investments by the parent company, as requested by all trade unions. Therefore, MIMIT, in agreement with the Ministry of Labour, requested by the Abruzzo Region, has identified the possibility of extending the support measures currently in place to give the Italian management of Denso the opportunity to launch the most appropriate investment initiatives in new products , recalling how the Italian Country System has already widely supported the Italian Denso factories (Piedmont and Campania) and for which it asks for an active and serious commitment from the parent company.
