The Vipava Valley and the Collio are known not only for their natural beauty, but also for the production of two gastronomic excellences: wine and olive oil. These territories, which stretch between Italy and Slovenia, are renowned for their high-quality products, loved both locally and internationally. Sunday 21st and Monday 22nd Aprilthe 2024 Wine and Olive Oil Festival will be held at the House of Culture in Šempas (Sambasso).
The event, which will begin at 3pm, represents a unique opportunity to discover the gastronomic delights and wines produced in our territory. After a hiatus lasting a few years, the festival returns to offer visitors a true culinary journey through the Vipava Valley, the Karst and the Collio. In addition to tastings, several workshops, conferences and cultural events will be available, aimed at presenting new trends, approaches and opportunities in the wine and oil industry.
The awards ceremony for the “Oljka Šempas 2024” competition will be held on Sunday afternoon. At 5pm, there will be space for the workshop “The world of cheeses in harmony with wine”, presented by sommeliers Ivan Peršolja and Dejana Baša. At 7pm, however, it will be held the gastronomic workshop “Learn to cook” with him chef Mitja Humar, who works in the kitchen of the Gredič restaurant in Dobrovo included in the Michelin guide. All events will be in Slovenian.
The conference “Young winemakers: New energies and new approaches for the promotion of the Vipava Valley” will be held on Monday at 4 pm, moderated by Saša Dravinec, journalist of the newspaper Primorske Novice. At 6 pm, the gastronomic workshop “Learn to cook” will be repeated, again with Mitja Humar. The welcome speech will be given by the mayor of the Municipality of Nova Gorica, Samo Turel, and by Neža Ukmar, “queen” of Terrano.
