The request following the Caserta municipal council of 17.4.24

In the courtyard of the Ex Onmi on April 25th the celebrations for the Liberation

“We urgently ask for a meeting between us associations, the Municipality of Caserta and the Campania Region. Let’s clarify the process of restructuring and opening the Casa del Sociale in Caserta.

Yesterday we participated in the City Council and we displayed signs urging the Municipality of Caserta regarding some social issues that we consider very urgent:

– the opening of the Mamadou Sy Social House at theFormer Onmi in Viale Beneduce. Mayor Marino said that there is no financial coverage from the Campania Region to carry out the renovation work on the space, while until yesterday it was announced that the construction site would open by the summer.

– the restoration of the reception of adult migrants in the Sai network after the Municipality had 7 million revoked by the Ministry of the Interior

– the protection of shared management experiences of green spaces in the citylike the Villetta in via Arno in the Acquaviva district, for which we are still and inexplicably waiting for the renewal of the Collaboration Agreement.

We intervened during the City Council because the attention that the Municipality reserves for these points, which in our opinion are crucial for the entire city, is far from being sufficient.

We asked, as many times in the last two months, for a meeting with the Mayor on the matter, but Mayor Marino, of the Democratic Party which administers this city with the 5 Star Movement in addition, saw fit to invite the local police to remove us and shut us up.

This is definitely not the attitude one expects when, in a more than peaceful manner, questions essential to the democracy and social justice of our city are raised.

We reiterate our appeal for an open, transparent and shared dialogue table with the Municipality of Caserta and the Campania Region and in the meantime we’ll meet you in the courtyard of the Ex Onmi on April 25th in the afternoon, to celebrate the Liberation!
