He steals a gold necklace and diamond ring from an old woman. Dismissal for a 62-year-old thirty-year-old with a criminal conviction

A hateful episode which last February had as its victim an elderly lady, eighty years old, guest of a residential facility for the elderly in Bolzano. It was an afternoon at the end of the month. While the victim was in a wheelchair in the Grieserhof Park, next to a bench where her husband was sitting, she was approached by a middle-aged woman who, first, sat on a bench in front of the couple , to observe it and then take action. A few minutes pass. After approaching the two elderly people and addressing them with an excuse, the woman, with a sudden gesture, tore a gold necklace with a diamond ring attached from the poor victim’s neck, and then walked away quickly and undisturbed.

From the subsequent investigative activity and thanks to the vision of the video surveillance system, the investigators of the Flying Squad of the State Police were able not only to reconstruct the entire criminal affair as it took place, but also to recognize the perpetrator of the heinous crime. Immediately after having stolen the precious necklace with ring, in fact, from the vision of the cameras you can clearly see the author’s face as she moves away from the Park, and as she extracts from the right pocket of her trousers the jewels stolen a few moments earlier from the victim, and then hold them in the palm of your hand and observe the “loot” with satisfaction and pleasure.

At the end of the Judicial Police activities, therefore, yesterday the Flying Squad proceeded to report to the Judicial Authority the 62-year-old woman with multiple criminal convictions from Trentino, specialized in this type of crime against elderly people, for the crime of aggravated theft. Considering the gravity of what happened and the precedents that emerged against the criminal, the Police Commissioner of the Province of Bolzano Paolo Sartori has arranged for the issuance of a Mandatory Street Sheetwith prohibition to do return to the Municipality of Bolzano for the next 4 years.

«What this elderly lady had as a victim represents a particularly deplorable and hateful type of crime, as it affects one of the weakest sections of society, not able to defend themselves – Commissioner Sartori was keen to underline –. For this reason, the State Police has always been attentive to these criminal phenomena, in such a way as to be able to assist the victims and make every effort to bring those who commit them to justice.”.
