“Ambassadors of prevention”, a meeting at Villa Zito to talk about breast cancer – BlogSicilia

On April 19, 2024 from 9am to 1.30pm, an event entitled “Ambassadors of Prevention” will be held at Villa Zito, headquarters of the Sicilia Foundation.

The Serena Association in Palermo, established according to the principles and objectives set by the European opinion movement “Europa Donna”, is aimed at women who have undergone breast surgery and their families to regain their lost serenity. It promotes early diagnosis and health education relating to the topic of breast cancer in its entirety, promotes the exchange of correct and updated information with the aim of a better quality of care and life.

The Serena Association in Palermo, led by President Carmela Amato, is the leader of agreements with the managers of the Screening centers and the Associations of the Sicily Region adhering to the Europa Donna Delegation, which has signed an agreement – Memorandum of Understanding with the Dasor at in order to establish the areas of intervention and methods of collaboration to support the actions of the Corporate Prevention and Screening Plan.

The screening

The “PNP 2020-2025 Mammography screening, also in consideration of the COVID-19 pandemic, underlined that the interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary approach between researchers and professionals is crucial for the prevention of tumors. It is necessary to implement relationships with other stakeholders such as third sector bodies in order to understand users’ needs and share actions aimed at guaranteeing not only a quality offer, but also information and communication levels adequate to citizens’ needs”.

The Serena Association in Palermo has been carrying out awareness-raising and orientation initiatives on oncological screening for several years and has collaborated with the ASP of Palermo and the Coordination of Oncological Screenings, with which it has shared the activity relating to the memorandum of understanding with the Office Regional School with an “Educational project for training and information on the prevention of breast cancer, orientation to oncological screening and diagnostic and therapeutic pathways, aimed at classes IV and V of secondary schools in Palermo and the Province. Today’s event is the final event of the members’ ongoing training. The students, health representatives and school principals who were protagonists of the change with cognitive-educational value were involved.

Path

With the Vittorio Emanuele Classical High School, a path was created for the transversal skills of orientation, school-work alternation (PCTO) and a final editorial product of restitution, with which, through mutual collaboration with other schools, initiatives were shared and promoted to improve compliance with oncological screening as “Ambassadors of prevention”.

At 9.00, after the greetings of the Authorities, the Marzia Zaiuto Prize will be awarded, a scholarship to the 1st place in the selection for the Master of Psycho-oncology at the Kore University of Enna. We will delve into the merits of the day dedicated to improving compliance with oncological screening and orientation to the diagnostic-therapeutic care pathways (PDTA) carried out in the Breast Units, consistent with national guidelines. The round table on innovative drugs will follow with indications on delivery methods. The round tables are open to professionals and citizens present. At the end of the event the Curator of the Exhibition will introduce the works of E. De Maria Bergler. Maestro F. Nicolosi, violinist, will perform during the event.
