Hooded and tied body found, 3 life sentences requested for the death of Donato Montinaro

The Lecce Prosecutor’s Office today presented its requests for conviction in the case of the murder of the seventy-five-year-old carpenter Donato Montinaro, which occurred in his home in Castrì (Lecce) on 11 June 2022. The requests include three life sentences and a 27-year sentence imprisonment for the four defendants accused of the murder.

Prosecutor Erika Masetti formulated the sentencing requests this morning before the judges of the Court of Assizes of Lecce. The defendants are accused of aggravated voluntary manslaughter.

Patrizia Piccinni, 49 years old from Alessano, was the recipient of the request for life imprisonment with daytime isolation for 18 months. Similarly, Angela Martella, 59 years old from Salve, and Emanuele Forte, 32 years old, were requested to be sentenced to life imprisonment with daytime isolation for 1 year each. Antonio Esposito was instead asked to serve 27 years in prison, with the mitigating circumstance of having collaborated in ascertaining the truth and having shown repentance, as underlined by the prosecutor during his indictment.

The four defendants are accused of having entered the seventy-five-year-old’s home with the intent to steal a large sum of money that the man kept in the house.

At the moment the theft of the money has not been proven, but the theft of a chainsaw from the garage has been confirmed. The victim’s disabled daughter was at home at the time of the crime. During the hearing, images of the discovery of the body were shown.

Ansa reports it.
