The 86-year-old runs a thriving business of receiving stolen gold in the Turin area

IVREA – An intense was recently discovered gold receiving activitiesled by an 86-year-old man.

Those in charge of the investigations, which lasted several months, were the Carabinieri of the Ivrea Company Command with the help of soldiers from Chivasso, Venaria Reale, Vercelli, personnel of the Operational Intervention Team (Sio), of the 1st Piedmont Regiment and of the Carabinieri Volpiano dog lovers. The investigation, coordinated by the Ivrea Prosecutor’s Office, led to the execution of aprecautionary measure order against six people, as they are seriously suspected of receiving stolen goods. The figure around whom all the activity revolved, as mentioned, was an 86 year old, already known to the police for his criminal past. Man indeed is accused of setting up a thriving market in stolen goldwith the complicity and help of a large group of other criminals.

During the investigations, the military discovered that the elderly man often went to the nomadic camps of Ivrea, Chivasso and Verolengo to evaluate the gold jewelery that was shown to him by the inhabitants. Subsequently, he took his loot to compliant gold buyers in the province of Turin, where he resold them in exchange for large sums of money. At the homes of the various suspects, instruments for measuring and packaging gold were found, as well as a few thousand euros in cash.

For man, the House arrest, while for the other five people the obligation to stay; three suspects are still at large.
