Mattia Giani, the young footballer, 25 years old from Ponte a Egola, who yesterday (14 April) collapsed on the pitch is fighting between life and death during the Eccellenza match between Lanciotto Campi and Castelfiorentino and was taken under code red to Careggi hospital.

The young man, a native of Empoli and resident in Ponte a Egola, in the municipality of San Miniato, after a shot on goal, he put his hands on his chest and went into cardiac arrest. Help was immediately provided by those present, with mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and a defibrillator awaiting the arrival of the 118 vehicles.

Admitted to the Florentine hospital, he is in desperate conditions.

The athlete played in various football clubs: Empoli Primavera, Pisa, Ponsacco, before finally joining Castelfiorentino United.
