Battle in the courtroom over the death of the German billionaire in Porto Cervo

Killed by anaphylactic shock caused by taking an antibiotic, Ceftraxone, to which she was allergic. Here is the cause of death of the German entrepreneur Sabina Illbruck, which took place in Porto Cervo on 19 June 2021. And now it’s a legal battle, because the investigating judge of the Tempio Court, Caterina Interlandi, reopened the case, rejecting the request to dismiss the case for manslaughter presented by the Gallura Prosecutor’s Office.

Today in the courtroom the discussion took place between the prosecutor, the civil party’s lawyer and the defence. Under accusation is a Sardinian doctor, Mario Cosso, 58 years old, from Sassari. According to the Carabinieri’s investigations, Cosso provided medical care to the victim in the hours immediately preceding his death and administered the antibiotic which would then cause the anaphylactic shock. The Tempio Prosecutor’s Office requested the dismissal based on the conclusions of its consultant, the medical examiner maintains that Cosso’s intervention was inappropriate, but that, at the same time, «despite adopting an alternative (correct) conduct, it cannot be ruled out with certainty that death occurred in the same way».

An argument rejected by the civil party’s lawyer, Antonello Desini. According to the victim’s family, Sabina Illbruck was known to be allergic to penicillin and the data was in a German language license that the woman always had with her and which was found in the room where the death occurred.

The doctor under investigation is defended by the lawyer Maurizio Serra. Now the investigating judge will have to decide whether to dismiss or order the formulation of a charge.
