SULMONA – A conversation on the challenges of digital technology in the field of art and an exhibition of glitch art, one that exploits technical error as a means of artistic expression, which uses digital errors for aesthetic purposes.

These will be the two moments of the event “The state of the art. The artist, us and Artificial Intelligence”, Sunday 14 April at 5.30 pm in the courtyard of the Palazzo dell’Annunziata in Sulmona.

An event that celebrates ten years of activity, including exhibitions, art competitions, projects for the valorization of local artists, of Maw, acronym of Man A(r)t Work, one of the “first gallery realities in Abruzzo to propose a reflection on art and artificial intelligence”, explains Gualtieri, founder of Maw together with Rino Di Pietro, to ANSA Italia.

The meeting will be attended by Michele Gerace, lawyer and creator of the School on Complexity, who will coordinate the interventions; Daniela Cotimbo, art historian and independent curator, founder of “Re:Humanism”, a cultural program and award dedicated to the relationship between contemporary art and artificial intelligence; Antonio Zimarino, art critic and contemporary art scholar, curator of the international exhibition “Stills of Peace” and of the Penne Art Biennial.

With them the mayor of Sulmona, Gianfranco Di Piero, the director of the ‘Ovidio’ higher education institute Caterina Fantauzzi and Italia Gualtieri herself.

After the conversation, the inauguration of the exhibition “Souls for tech. Anime for technology”, Videodrome of Iranian ‘glitch art’ with works by Iranian artists Niloufar Baniasadi, Reza Famori, Sadegh Majlesi, Elnaz Mohammadi, Arezou Ramezani and Mohammad Alì Famori, who in a video intervention will be the spokesperson for the group’s greetings of artists. All curated by Antonio Zimarino, who will have the task of guiding visitors to discover an art form that finds a new interpretation in digital media.

The exhibition consists of “6 video works that poetically integrate the random errors of the digital medium with procedures that modify the consistency of the images, leading the viewer to explore the aesthetic and meaningful dimensions of interference, imperfection, the border between image and reality ”. The exhibition can be visited until April 15th, from 10am to 1pm and from 5pm to 8pm, with free admission.
