Tragic accident in the Vicenza area, where a violent head-on collision between two cars caused one death and two injuries. The drama occurred just before midnight today, April 6, along provincial road 66 in Zane (Vicenza). The scene immediately appeared catastrophic to witnesses who were nearby: the two cars were completely destroyed, one of them caught fire.
A man died in hospital
Some passing motorists, seeing the flames, managed to get two people out of the passenger compartment of the car, a Volkswagen Golf, while the driver of the other car, a Renault Megane, managed to get out alone. The driver and passenger of the Golf were taken to hospital, but one of them did not make it and is died shortly after.
The firefighters, arriving from Schio and from the voluntary detachment of Thiene (Vicenza), put out the flames and secured the vehicles. The police were also on site and diverted traffic and investigated the accident. The fire brigade’s rescue and clean-up operations ended after 1am.
