Yesterday in Rome, on Via Pontina Vecchia in the municipality of Ardea, a 7-year-old girl died in a serious road accident. Three vehicles collided violently at the intersection with Via della Pescarella just before 4pm. Despite the timely arrival of help, unfortunately there was nothing that could be done for the little girl: the health workers desperately tried to resuscitate her, but every effort was in vain.
Other passengers were injured in the accident; the girl’s mother was transported by ambulance to Pomezia hospital in a state of shock, while her five-year-old brother suffered several fractures. In another car involved, two other children were injured.
The firefighters worked tirelessly to extract the passengers from the sheets of the vehicles, while the local police, supported by the Ardea police, conducted numerous investigations to understand the exact dynamics of the collision.
From an initial reconstruction, it seems that a car coming from Via della Pescarella did not respect the stop sign, crossing paths with another car which was proceeding at high speed along Via Pontina Vecchia. Upon impact, the driver would have lost control of the vehicle, colliding with a third car traveling in the opposite lane, on board which was the woman with her two children who lived a few hundred meters from the scene. of the accident.
The drivers of the two cars involved were subjected to routine tests to check for any alcohol or drug use. Furthermore, the issue of the safety of the intersection was raised by the entire local community, where other accidents appear to have occurred in the past.
