Renting as a first home becomes more convenient: the commitment of the Liguria Region

The Liguria Region will take an active part in the State-Regions Conference so that at a national level tools are identified and policies are put in place which, by protecting the legitimate rights of building owners, can make it more attractive and profitable to rent vacant properties, allocating them to rental contracts long-term and further encouraging agreed-rent rentals.

This is what was decided yesterday afternoon by the Regional Council on the initiative of Forza Italia group leader Claudio Muzio, who says: “The solution to pressing housing needs cannot be to ban short-term and tourist rentals: bans and limits on short-term rentals, in fact, do not in themselves guarantee that the homes will be placed on the long-term rental market. The main reasons for the scarcity of homes available for the stipulation of long-term rental contracts are to be found in other factors, including the critical issues of national legislation regarding the protection of the legitimate rights of owners in the event of arrears of the tenant, the scarcity of public residential homes accessible to young couples and people with low income, the lack of strong incentives that favor long-term rentals”.
